I have been coming here for over 20 years and still love it. My last visit the order was 100% correct but the server didn't write anything down. Definitely recommend the cinnamon roll!

I ordered the pie dinner. Comes with mashed potatoes and gravy,vegetable, (corn) coleslaw and desert pie. I had blueberry. Food was delicious. Although, they dont put vegetables in the pie like they used to and it's a lot better with them. Mashed potatoes and gravy were to die for! Corn was good. I didn't like the coleslaw. It was watery and tasted like it had sugar in it. Blueberry pie was delicious. Its my favorite an I never ate a blueberry pie I didn't like! Lol. Service was prompt and my waitress was the sweetest. Very attentive did her job well and made me feel like I was at home! There's lots of old fashioned decorations and they received many awards, I didn't know! I used to eat here long time ago when they were on 5th & Robinson. This location is bigger and better. Has a parking lot. I highly recommend this place. Good food and prompt service. They also have daily specials such as meatloaf and bbq ribs.

This place is a real gem! And old school American diner restaurant, obsessed with chicken and sports! So cool That they have drawings of sports men on the walls. Excellent price for a full course menu! Great for families!

I love the nostalgia of this restaurant since its been there since 1938. I came for the chicken pot pie which I love. The pie itself only contains chicken but you get a side of mashed and vegetables as well. They had corn on the day we went. The beer is cheap at $6.85 a glass, my hubby had a cider which was $6. The kids had Mac n cheese and my husband ordered the fried chicken. We had a side of French fries as well. The fries were good. The kids said the Mac was a 3/10, I didn't try it. My husband did not like the fried chicken, he makes a pretty mean fried chicken himself. The waitress Karen seemed super frazzled and was all over the place. She's a bit older and I felt for her because she seemed like she was the only waitress in the place but lacked in service due to this.

San Diego Chicken Pie Shop is classic comfort food done right. The mashed potatoes and veggies tasted fresh and made the whole plate feel like a home-cooked meal. Portions are big, the food comes out hot, and everything feels homemade. It’s one of those spots that gives you that old-school diner vibe — simple, satisfying, and reliable every time. If you’re craving comfort food, this place definitely hits the spot.
